Terms of service

Last updated: 5 November 2026

These terms apply when you use Langer, our web and mobile apps for talking across languages. By creating an account or using Langer, you agree to them.

Who provides Langer

Langer — the web app at app.langer.chat and the Langer mobile apps — is provided by MB „Įdarbintas intelektas“, Lithuania (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@langer.chat.

Langer is in beta

Langer translates messages and speech so that people who speak different languages can understand each other. It is a working prototype that we are opening to beta testers: features may change, be limited or be removed as we develop it, and the service may at times be unavailable.

Langer has a free plan and paid plans, explained below under Plans, limits and credits. You pay nothing unless you choose to buy a plan or credits.

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Langer without any obligation to you.

Automatic translation

Translations and transcriptions are made automatically by AI. They can be inaccurate or incomplete and can miss context or tone. Do not rely on Langer where a mistake could cause harm — in medical, legal, financial or safety matters, or in an emergency: check the meaning another way or use a qualified interpreter.

Your account

You need an account to use Langer. You can create one with your email address and a password, or sign in with a supported provider such as Google. You must be at least 16 years old.

Give accurate details, keep your password to yourself and let us know at hello@langer.chat if you think someone else is using your account. You are responsible for what is done through it.

Plans, limits and credits

Langer has a free plan and paid plans, which you pay for monthly. Each plan lets you use translation — of messages and calls, and the translator — and dictate messages, have voice messages read aloud and try your voice on a phrase, within a weekly limit. A higher plan has a higher limit.

The limit counts your use over a week that starts with your first use after the previous week ended. When the week ends, the limit resets. “Usage & plan” in Langer’s settings shows how much of the limit you have used and when it resets.

How much of the limit a use takes depends on how much AI work it needs: a minute of a call takes more than a message, and a long message more than a short one; calls in one language take nothing, but dictation, reading voice messages aloud and trying your voice count even when nothing is translated, for example in a chat between two people who speak the same language. A message to a group takes as much as one message for each language in the group other than yours. The app shows about how many minutes of calls or messages the limit, and your credits, are worth. These are estimates, and they can change, for example when what translation costs us changes.

When you reach the limit, Langer goes on without what counts towards it until the limit resets, you move to a higher plan or you go on with credits: your messages are delivered untranslated, you can’t start a call between two languages, and the translator, dictation, reading voice messages aloud and trying your voice stop; the app shows that you have reached the limit. A call you made that is under way goes on untranslated: each of you hears the other’s own voice.

A call between two languages is paid for by the person who makes it: the translation of what both of you say uses the caller’s limit and, once it is reached, the caller’s credits. Calls you receive use neither your limit nor your credits.

We may change the plans and their limits for a valid reason — a change in what translation costs us, new or changed features, preventing abuse, or the law — and will tell you by email in advance. If a change makes your paid plan worse in more than a minor way, you can end the plan free of charge within 30 days of our email or of the change, whichever is later, and get back what you paid for the rest of the month.

Subscriptions and payments

A plan’s price is the one shown before you buy, VAT included: in the App Store or Google Play when you buy in the iPhone or Android app, and on Stripe’s payment page when you buy in the web app. You pay for each month in advance, from the day you subscribe, and the plan renews automatically every month until you cancel it.

You can cancel at any time where you subscribed: an App Store subscription in your Apple account’s subscription settings, a Google Play subscription in Google Play’s subscription settings, and one from the web app in Langer’s settings, under “Usage & plan” → “Manage subscription”. Cancelling stops the renewals: you keep the plan until the end of the month you have paid for, and then return to the free plan.

A higher plan starts at once, and what is left of your current month counts towards its price; a lower plan starts at your next renewal. Your plan works on every device where you sign in, whichever store you bought it in, but you change or cancel it where you bought it.

If a renewal can’t be charged, the store or Stripe tries again, and your plan keeps working for a while; if the payment still fails, you are on the free plan until it goes through.

Plans and credits bought in the App Store or Google Play are also governed by Apple’s or Google’s terms: Apple or Google takes the payment, and also makes any refund of it.

If we change a plan’s price, we will tell you at least 30 days before the new price applies to you, and you can cancel before then. The App Store and Google Play tell you too, and may ask you to accept the new price.

Credits

Credits are sold in packs separately from the plans and pay in advance for everything that counts towards the limit. They are used only once you have reached your plan’s limit, and only while “Use credits when I reach a limit” is on in “Usage & plan”; it is on at first, and every purchase of credits turns it on again. Credits pay only for your own use, which includes both sides of the calls you make.

Credits don’t expire. They stay yours when your plan changes or ends, and you can use them on every device where you sign in, whichever store sold them.

Credits have no cash value: they can’t be exchanged for money or transferred to another account, and they are not refunded, except where the law requires it. Deleting your account deletes them.

If a purchase of credits is refunded, its credits are taken back, even those already used; your balance can then fall below zero, and you can’t use credits until a purchase brings it back above zero.

Right of withdrawal

If you are a consumer in the European Union or the European Economic Area, you can withdraw from a purchase made in the web app within 14 days of making it, without giving a reason, as follows.

A plan starts at once, because you ask for that when you buy it. If you withdraw from it within the 14 days, we refund what you paid, less the part for the days you have had the plan.

Credits are added to your account as soon as you have paid, at your express request, and when buying them you acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal once they are added. Our confirmation email repeats this.

To withdraw from a plan, use “Withdraw from contract here” in “Usage & plan” in the web app’s settings, which is there during the 14 days, and confirm it; or send us a clear statement by email to hello@langer.chat, for which you can use the form below. We confirm your withdrawal by email, with the date and time we received it, and refund you within 14 days, by the means you paid with.

For purchases in the App Store or Google Play, Apple’s or Google’s terms set out the right of withdrawal: to withdraw from such a purchase or ask for a refund, use Apple’s or Google’s own process.

Acceptable use

Use Langer lawfully and respect the people you talk to. Do not use it to harass, threaten, deceive or impersonate anyone; to send spam, or content that is illegal or infringes someone else’s rights; to get into other people’s accounts or data, look for security holes in the service, overload it or disrupt it; or to copy or resell Langer or build a competing service from it, except where the law expressly allows it.

Your content

Your messages, what you say in calls and other content you send through Langer stay yours. You allow us to store, process, translate and deliver it — also through the service providers that do this on our behalf — only as far as needed to provide Langer, keep it secure and comply with the law.

You are responsible for what you send and must have the right to share it.

How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy notice.

Ending your account

You can stop using Langer at any time and delete your account in the app’s settings. Deleting it removes your profile, contacts, conversations and calls — for the people you talked to as well.

Deleting your account also cancels a subscription from the web app at once and stops a Google Play subscription from renewing. An App Store subscription goes on renewing until you cancel it in your Apple account, which only you can do. Unused credits and the rest of a paid month are lost, unless the law provides otherwise.

We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, or when the law requires it. Unless the law or someone’s safety prevents it, we will tell you why.

We may also end the beta or discontinue Langer. If we do, we will let you know by email in advance whenever we can; if we discontinue Langer, we will give back what you paid for the rest of a paid month and for credits you haven’t used.

Liability

We do our best to keep Langer working and your data safe, but during the beta we cannot promise that it will always be available or free of errors, or that translations will be accurate.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for losses caused by relying on a translation. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited — for example for intent, gross negligence or harm to life and health — or your rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Langer develops. We will tell you about important changes in advance, by email or in the app. If you keep using Langer after they take effect, the updated terms apply; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Lithuania. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.

If something goes wrong, please write to us first at hello@langer.chat and we will try to put it right. Consumers can also turn to the State Consumer Rights Protection Authority of Lithuania (vvtat.lrv.lt). Disputes are settled by the courts of Lithuania; if you are a consumer, you can also go to the courts of the country where you live.
